Are Cow’s Sharing Their M&Ms & Potato Chips With You?

I came across this disturbing, but highly believable video, the other day. Please understand, I do eat meat, and this is not a post bashing meat consumption. However, the info contained in this video makes me more determined to continue sharing the benefits of consuming grass-fed animals (if you eat meat), as well as organic fruits, veggies, nuts, and grains.
Yes, it costs a few dollars more to purchase grass-fed meats such as beef, bison, and buffalo. However, it just may cost you more, in terms of your health, due to the effects of consuming the “cheaper” meat products farmers, as well as the larger food corporations, are mass producing for your convenience.
Before you pull up to that fast food drive-thru, take a look at this video. Once you finish watching it, let me know what you think about the measures farmers and corporations, are using to cut costs and mass produce products at the expense of your health. For your determinedly carnivorous readers, there is a website (www.eatwild.com) that has a good directory of pasture-based farms. I used it to find local farms from which I can buy all kinds of grass-fed, organic meat and dairy products. I’m not sure how complete it is, but it’s a nice start.

Thanks for the great resource DeDe. I was actually looking for a few places near me, and the eatwild.com link pointed me in the right direction. One of the farms even produces my favorite, kefir! You rock!

Before I even saw the video and read the damn title and thought YUCK LOL. But You know its true. The problem is, I’m afraid that the government is lying about animals being “grass fed”. They might be eating crap as well. Yuck.

I guess the next question we should ask is, what are the farmers using to raise the grass and/or the hay? Are they doing the natural thing, by letting the animals fertilize it in “their own speacial way” as the reporter said in the video?
Alternatively, since it costs more to produce grass-fed animals, which some farmers can only have a limited number to raise, due to limited land, do some farmers add certain chemicals to grow more grass faster, in order to meet supply and demand? Hmmmmm, I think I need to hurry and buy a farm and raise my own food, like my great-grandparents did. Time to be a true Texan, use all of this land available to us, and take more control of my own destiny.
