Coach Sincere Hogan’s “Anti-Resolution” Creed

December 31st, 2008
· Filed Under: Diet · Exercise Equipment · Holiday Fit Tips · Inspiration · Motivation · No Gym-No Problem radio show · Worthy Causes · blog · recipes

Dear New Years Resolutionairies:

It’s December 31. New Year’s Eve. And, honestly, I could care less about new years resolutions. In fact, I’m sure my fellow New Warriors feel the same way. Why, because we train hard all year round. We continuously put good, natural, living foods in our bodies, throughout the year. We take time to rejuvenate, rest, and recover between intense training days, so we reduce stress, throughout the year.

My fellow New Warriors and I could give a Rat’s….well,….you know, about all of the stupid fad diets, diet pills, infomercials, bodybuilding split routines preached about by the muscle heads at commercial gyms, so-called miracle end all-cure all fruit juice of the day, air-brushed celebrities on magazine covers pimping workouts and diets they don’t “really” do, nor the “as seen on tv” exercise equipment contraptions and DVDs, with their hired “fitness models,” who lie to us by saying they got those overly tanned, water depleted before the commercial shoot, six pack abs “solely” from some silly contraption or DVD.

We’re real people, with real lives, with real families, with real careers, and really have very little time in our day for your real b.s. We know you don’t really care about our health, as much as your care about out bank accounts. Thus, keep your suggestions and lies, touted to help us create and keep our resolutions.

stop lying to us, or we'll lay the smackdown on ya!

We’d rather continue being the weirdos, who actually make time to get healthier and stronger each day. We’d rather continue being the hacks, who have the ba–s to know that being fit and healthy is something we work on, on a daily basis, and plan to do so, for the rest of our lives…and not just for 365 days.

We’re the nut jobs, who realize that if your diets, diet pills, acai or whatever South American berry juice of the month, exercise equipment, outdated bodybuilder routines and long steady-state cardio routines, where the only thing we need to be in the best shape of our lives, for the rest of our lives, then the obesity rate would not continue to grow, and the need for a “yearly” resolution to “get back in shape,” would not be warranted.

In conclusion, either stop your lying, false claims based on biased self-funded research, outdated training methods, or simple over-complication of just getting up and moving around and making smarter food choices, or simply stay the he– out of our way. We’re creating a real “lifestyle” here, playa (keyword: “life”), and your resolution suggestions, gimmicks, and lies are not wanted here.

In other words, take your New Years resolutions and “hit the bricks” and “get to steppin!”

Yours truly,

Sincere Hogan (The People’s Fit Coach) & my fellow New Warriors & Goddesses

The Top 10 Most Fattening Alcoholic Drinks

December 30th, 2008
· Filed Under: Diet · Holiday Fit Tips · fat loss

Ahhhh, New Year’s Eve….a night of getting rid of the old and bringing in the new. This includes, for many, new healthy habits (beginning on January 1, of course). Thus, they decide…”Hey, this is my last night of being bad, because I start my new fitness program tomorrow. So I don’t have to worry about it, right?”

Hold on there Drunky Brewster! Why make it even harder on your new program, by adding a gang-load of calories in one night…..especially empty calories from alcohol? Sure, you may say, “Well, I’ll have a couple of drinks. It won’t be that bad.”

Well, even a couple of your favorite cocktails can add enough calories to your night, (which may already be filled with fattening party snacks, foods, etc.) to match the total amount of calories you need for an entire day of eating. Whoa!

As a matter of fact, did you know one Pina Colada has more calories than a Big Mac? The average 80 proof drink has about 90 calories alone. However, when you start making mixers, watch the calorie count climb quickly.

In fact, lets take a look at some of the most popular cocktails and the calorie count for just consuming “one” of them. You may be surprised.

1. Long Island Iced Tea
Calories: 780 Carbohydrates: 44 grams

2. Margarita
Calories: 740 Carbohydrates: 56 grams

3. Pina Colada
Calories: 644 Carbohydrates: 90 grams

4. White Russian
Calories: 425 Carbohydrates: 26 grams

5. Mai Tai
Calories: 350 Carbohydrates: 30 grams

6. Champagne Cocktail (French 75)
Calories: 250 Carbohydrates: 13 grams
(The bubble is already pure sugar. Adding anything with it, ups the calories)

7. Fog Cutter
Calories: 225 Carbohydrates: 13 grams

8. Gin or Vodka & Tonic
Calories: 200 Carbohydrates: 14 grams
(Tonic water is packed w/ sugar. Ask for club soda instead)

9. Mojito
Calories: 160 Carbohydrates: 12 grams
(Most bars use sugar water to sweeten the drink. so beware. Ask for splenda, instead)

10. Cosmopolitan
Calories: 150 Carbohydrates: 10 grams
(Ask for a vodka and diet cranberry instead)

Dishonorable mention: Beer

One regular beer has anywhere from 150 to close to 200 calories; a light beer could be around 100 to 120 calories

By cutting back on these drinks not only helps you from from waking up with a nasty hangover the next day, but will always help to keep you from waking up “fatter!”

Remember, if you do drink, always drink responsibly. Never drink and drive! Most importantly, have a safe and fun New Years Eve. Here’s to a prosperous and healthy new year.

Salut!

Sincere~

“What’s Really Your Priority?” Rev. Run’s Words of Wisdom

December 29th, 2008
· Filed Under: Inspiration · Motivation · blog

I think I will start the beginning of the week off with a great quote of the day. As you have read from previous posts, I am a fan of Rev. Run (Run of of the legendary Run DMC). Rev. Run sends out his words of wisdom on a daily basis. Quite a few inspire me, and help set the tone for day’s activities. Thus, I would like to share the following with you:

Good morning. What’s at the top of the list for you this year? Better financial practices? Saving? Spending more time with family? Better relationships with those who work with you? What ever it is… Self-discipline is necessary… John Maxwell said in his book The 21 indispensable QUALITIES OF A LEADER… “If you can determine what’s REALLY a priority and release yourself from EVERYTHING ELSE, its a lot easier to follow through on WHAT’S IMPORTANT. And that’s the essence of self-discipline.”

God is Love
Rev Run

Rev. Run brings up a good point. Being that the first day of the new year is only a couple of days away, I am sure you are thinking about making some changes. What are those changes? Why those particular changes? What are you doing “right now” to make those particular changes come to fruition? Please share your thoughts below. i would love to hear about them.

Coach Sincere Hogan Finds Unexpected Snow in Houston, TX.

December 11th, 2008

Snow…..in Houston? What the duece? Too bad it only lasted for one night. It’s going to be in the mid-70’s in a couple of days. Nice. Houston’s the only place in the workd where you canexperience all 4 seasons in a matter of 7 days. Haha….check out my little video of this “unnatural” phenomenon, last night.

If you are fortunate enough to get snow in your area, how does the “not-so-friendly” weather conditions affect your training program?
