Hill Sprints are excellent for fat loss, gaining strength, lean muscle building, and explosive power. Hill sprints not only give a great cardio workout, but also build muscle.
Incorporating hill sprints in your routine once or twice a week, on non-consecutive days, is an excellent way to speed up your fat loss, and improve your condtioning. As always, check with a medical professional, before beginning a fitness program.
Keep in mind, hill sprints really rev up the heart, and taxes the body with short bursts of energy. No worries, that’s a good thing for the most part.

Good morning. There was a little boy named Steven who once asked a wise old man what it took to be successful. The wise old man picked Steven up by the scruff of his neck and dunked him, head first, into a barrel filled with water. Steven was kicking and squirming with all he had, but the wise old man just kept him under water.
After holding young Steven there for several minutes, and mere seconds before Steven passed out, the wise olf man released his hold on the young boy. As Steven began to catch his breath, he said, “ Hey, why did you go and do that? You must be out of your mind you could have killed me.”
The wise old man just laughed and said, “You asked me what it took to be successful? Well what was the one thing you wanted more than anything else when you were underwater? Young Steven said, “I wanted AIR!!” The wise old man said, Steven when you want SUCCESS just as much as you wanted that air, you’ll have it.”

Today marks the 233rd birthday of the United States Marine Corp. For 233 years, these brave men and women, have dedicated themselves to protecting the freedom of the United States, as well, as its allies.
The Marines have always captured my attention, via their tenacity, dedication, patriotism, and overall
reputation for being some of the baddest you-know-whats on the planet. Movies such as
Full Metal Jacket (one of my favorites of all time), Born On The Fourth of July, A Few Good Men,
Dead Presidents, and Jarhead portrayed theses leathernecks in such light.
Being involved in the world of health & fitness, I can truly appreciate the physical training of
the men and women of the Marines. It’s no joke. I often find it comical when I see fitness instructors,
who have never served a day in any brnach of the armed services, sporting fatigues purchased at the local Army-Navy store, Salvation Army, or Target, screaming at their clients at the crack of dawn, as if they are gearing their clients up for war.
I have too much respect for these brave soldiers to profit off of this great big game of “dress up” or “pretend.” I’m sure most of the fitness instructors would not last 1 week in a real military boot camp. What these fine indivduals do for our country, and the world, in the name of freedom, is not a game.
Last week, citizens of the U.S. chose a new president, the promise
for a new direction for this country and the world, as well as hope for a resolution to the
conflict in the Middle East, that will bring our soldiers home soon.
Also,in a few days, the U.S. will celebrate Veteran’s Day.
Therefore, I am dedicating today’s blog post to the men and women of the United States Marine Corp. I am truly grateful for all that you do for us, and take this time to honor you by celebrating
233 years of excellence, courage, and dedication. Happy birthday, United states Marine Corp. Ooh Rah!
Semper Fi!
Here is a tribute video of the men and women training, during
a “true” bootcamp session, as well as other photos of Marines being active in the field.
Lastly, please share your thoughts and birthday wishes to the U.S. Marine Corp in the comments section. However, please note, this is not the time or forum, to fight over personal views regarding the war. Please leave comments in regards to honoring our U.S. Marines.
In my neverending quest to find ways to spice up chicken, I found this tasty gem from the folks over at footfit.com. I adjusted a few of the ingredients to
make them just a but healthier. Be sure to use as many organic ingredients as possible. We
want to try to get as much natural and good food in our system, whenever possible.
The following recipe serves 4. Just make sure you invite me over when you make this ; -)
Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 40 minutes
Ingredients
Organic olive oil cooking spray
1 pound skinless, boneless cage-free chicken thighs
sea salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup white wine
1 large yellow onion, sliced
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 parsnips, peeled and sliced into rounds
1 bay leaf
2 cups organic chopped, canned Italian tomatoes with their juice
Cooking Instructions
1. Spray generous amount of cooking spray in large skillet and heat over medium-high heat.
While the skillet heats, season the chicken with sea salt and pepper.
Add the chicken to the pan and brown on all sides.
As the chicken pieces finish browning, transfer them to a plate and set aside.
2. Add the wine, letting it boil rapidly for a minute and then stir with a wooden spoon
to remove any browned bits that may be stuck to the pan.
3. Turn the heat to medium and add the onion and celery.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion begins to wilt, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook for 2 more minutes.
4. Return the chicken to the skillet and add the carrots, parsnips,
bay leaf and canned tomatoes with juice.
Adjust the heat so that the mixture simmers slowly and place a lid,
slightly ajar, over the skillet. Cook until the chicken is completely tender,
about 25 minutes. Taste the cooking liquid and adjust the sea salt and pepper.
5. Serve the chicken and vegetables in warm bowls.
